PMMA Injection Molding FAQ
PMMA (acrylic) injection molding heats plastic pellets to 220-270°C and injects them into a mold to form parts.
Features: 92% transparency, UV resistant, excellent weather resistance. Common uses: automotive lights, optical lenses, displays.
Transparency: 92-93%, near glass quality
Heat resistance: Up to 80-90°C
Strength: 65-75 MPa, but brittle
Weather resistance: Excellent UV stability
Shrinkage: 0.2-0.8%
Drying: 80°C for 3-4 hours (critical!)
Barrel temp: 220-270°C
Mold temp: 60-90°C
Pressure: 60-120 MPa
Speed: Slow to medium injection
Bubbles/haziness: Dry thoroughly, reduce barrel temp
Flow marks: Increase mold temp to 80-90°C
Stress cracking: Lower injection speed, add annealing
Sink marks: Increase holding pressure and time
Yellowing: Reduce barrel temp, minimize residence time
